New York, USA
The Apthorp is a remarkable building built in 1906 by the Astor family as a giant Florentine palazzo on Broadway in New York, it is built in stone and is a rarity in New York as it was clearly built to last. The building still retains many of its historic interiors. The design involves extending new penthouse apartments onto the roof of the Apthorp Building within empty loggia structures on the roof of the building. It is one of New York's Registered Landmark buildings.
